Not being a resident of the USA, I still want to addd my 5 cents;
I was in Normandy last week, with my 18 year old son.
We visited Omaha beach, the American cemetery in St Laurent sur Mer and the memorial in Caen.
It makes me humble to see what your fellow countrymen did for our freedom.
I wanted my son to see what has happened, especially while we're living in a time where all to easy
the United States is being blamed for interfering in area's outside the US.
Just to show him why we live in a free country, what the history of this all is and to remember.
And the fact that he can wear his hear the way he wants, and can express himself in freedom isn't to be taken for granted.
He was greatly impressed and I think there should be always memorial days, to keep history alive and in honour for those who fought for our freedom.
Fast,
The Netherlands
