Boot scan turned off my computer in the middle of scanning
« on: July 30, 2008, 06:23:54 PM »
I tried to do a boot scan. It shut down my computer in the middle of it. After I restarted my computer, I was prompted to either do a system repair (recommended) or start windows normally.  I chose do a system repair. I then had to do a system restore. I have no idea what date was used because I wasn’t give a choice.

I checked the boot scan report to see if it said the reason why, and it didn't.

If you mean the computer has really shut down (powered off) - then it's probably a hardware problem (overheating of disk or CPU most likely).

Yes, it powered off. It shouldn't be a hardware problem because I've had my computer for one month.

it can be a hardware, if you had a computer for a month dont mean that will not fail. The hardware can fail anytime.

The scanning is quite an intensive process - you may consider it kind of a "stress-test" of the computer.
