Script Blocker
« on: October 05, 2008, 04:06:21 PM »
I have jus added scripy blocker to the other providers, and nowsuddenly according to 'About? I have version 4.8 professional and not Home!
Did I do somthing wrong?  Was this wise?  Should I go back to what I had before?

Thank you

Script blocker is available with avast! Pro. You get a free trial of avast! Pro for 60 days- after that, avast! will revert to the home version and you'll lose script blocker, so enjoy it while you have it!

Thank you for the explanation.  I take it that it does not slow down the computer too much or block usual stuff you get on normal sites?

Comment from avast! team member:

Quote
Honestly, the Script Blocker is rather an obsolete feature today - almost everything that avast! Script Blocker could detect will also be detected by avast! Web Shield (and much more). The only occasion where Script Blocker has an advantage (against Web Shield) would be running the malware from disk - but during browsing, you are completely protected by Web Shield, there's no need for Script Blocker.

Anyway, do you have any similar tool installed? Or something that might hook (and affect) the running processes in some way, possibly preventing the scripts to be passed to avast? Or any kind of IE extension?

Also, Script Blocker cannot work with Firefox:

Use NoScript instead (http://noscript.net/).
