Found Something to Further Customise the Avast Prgm
« on: October 30, 2008, 03:30:39 AM »
Hi,
I sat down and looked on the internet for a additional Icon program to show you of the progress of a download of a Outlook Express message.
Really did not find one so I went into the Avast  "online Access Scanner" program boxes and found that Avast did give one an acceptable indicator.
This was found in the = "Internet Mail" = Customise =- Advanced = tick checked "Show detailed Info on Performed Action" also I feel the "Show Tray Icon when scanning mail" was previously been checked.
Please Note!
Now when one has a large sized email comming in or going out you do see a "Strip Indication"  showing you all is going all OK

Many thanks
Colin

I`m not following you properly... did you find the solution and have posted it or you still have a problem?

Hi Tech
Thanks for your reply

I thought  my post may assist other Avast users who may not be aware of same!

Yes I found this solution to enable me to have a indicator functioning to show my internet mail downloads were in a progress of transfer. [This morning dad I had a further look in Avast "Help" and yes found  = under "Resident Protection" - "Internet"  Mail Provider Settings" - "Advanced Page" - "Show detailed info on performed action." -]
Please note that previously before initiating same I found when I was receiving a Email with a large  attachment I had no indiction if  all was functioning all OK if or had is stopped transfer relating to a break down in the transfer from my provider!

Regards Colin

I can't understand what he's saying either.  I've looked under the help menu and can't find anything like that.  Sorry.

Okay...

Well I found it in the help menu, but didn't put 2 and 2 together where it was I was to make the change.  Finally went back and reread 'maybeok0's orignal post and followed it.  It works fine. Duh!

Thanks maybeok0 and David for the clarification.
