how does one invoke a quick scan using the enhanced user interface?

If I remember correctly, the enhanced UI is only available on the the paid professional version of avast. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about this.

you are correct -- i have purchased the "Pro." i had no trouble opting for the quick scan mode when using the simple ui but i am nonplussed by the enhanced ui!!

For the start, you can use the supplied tasks (Scan:local disk, Scan: interctive selection).
By default, they're quite similar to the Quick scan without archives.

Then, you can create a copy of this default task and modify it - if you change the content-type scan to extension-type scan on the "Type" page, you'll be at the Quick scan I guess.
