avast pop-up box
« on: May 01, 2004, 02:16:37 PM »
I asked someone else on the forum  but didn't get the answer.  How do you make that avast box quit popping up on your screen announcing updates?  Even if I go ahead and update just to get rid of it, it comes up and announces it has succeeded with the update.  Now it's coming up again to offer another update already.  If I can't get rid of the pest, I'm canceling with Avast!  The other forum person said I could go into the DATA part of the Avast Program Files and find the one that says "avast ini.".  But there isn't one there among the list of program files that says "Avast ini." Anybody know how to make the pop-up box quit? It's like having a virus itself!!!

In the avast installation folder, there is a subfolder called Data. Inside, there is a file called avast4.ini - if you don't see it, you may have Explorer configured to hide the known extensions of files...
