Avast Udates seem to be going wrong
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:58:58 AM »
Just why is avast updateing then reporting that it's updates are out of date
then giving me a red flag and saying my computer could be at risk,

if it carries on i will change to another system
as i can't be sure if avast is protecting me or not.

 :(

Is the system clock date and time correct?

After the time and date are corrected, repair your installation:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

The time and date are set correctly and the cmos battery is fine,
no problems there.

i am thinking it might be a registry error as i keep mine spotless i am wondering if i have missed something in there but i don't think so.

despite un-installing and clearing out the registry of all traces of the system then re-installing i still am getting the same report. ?

i am running it(or trying to)on windows XP

it was running fine untill a fortnight ago
there has been no new programs added in the last six month's.
it runs with malwarebytes i am wondering if they have changed their program (via their updates) in any way as to affect it.
i will remove malwarebytes then report back after another un/re-install of avast

I doubt MBAM has any effect against avast updates.
Which is set into your Update (Connections) tab of avast settings?

stayed up all night to get this right,

seems my daughter installed a date/time stopper to play a downloaded game with a try out time limit.

sometimes you can't see the tree's for the wood.

problem solved back to normal all i need to do now is try to improve the date/time stopper but i have got better things to do.

thanks for your suggestions and good luck.
