Win32:32:Dialer-O & Win32:Startpage-006
« on: June 18, 2004, 02:54:37 AM »
I have been helping a friend find out what's a matter with his computer, he started by getting uncontrolable pop-ups and by using CW Shredder and a combination of other programs we got that stopped but something was continuing to hi-jack his IE browser. I downloaded Avast! 4 and it immediately detected 2 viruses that Norton and Micro Trend missed. Thank god for AVAST! AntiVirus protection .... It made a believer out of him. Does anybody know anything about Win32:32:Dialer-O & Win32:Startpage-006? I have them isolated in the virus chest. Please help!  :o :'( :o

2 more questions. It doesn't matter about deleting the 2 files that were infected? And is there any place I can go and read about those 2 viruses?

Again I swear by you guys at Avast! and I made a believer out of him. He plans to drop Norton and continue to use avast! version 4. You guys rock. Thanks!  :)

2) Win32:Startpage-006?

Hi,

some Info:
1) VGREP1

2) VGREP2

***

  "startpage" kind: spybot, ad-aware and cwshredder might help
see www.lurkhere.com ->nicefiles and www.lavasoft.de

-Secure your system:
   change passwords, secure shares, install patches/updates for WIN&IE;
   disable ActiveX and Scripting in IE except for know secure sites - and better use a secure browser like Opera or Mozilla
- scan your whole system with updated avast and maybe a 2nd scanner ,e.g. TrendMicro/RAV to check whether your PC is clean ;)
