Win32:Startpage-006

I am so tired I am about to give up. I have previous posts concerning this beast called Win32:Startpage-006. Just what the heck is it and why, after trying everything anybody has to say about it does it keep coming back. I have been trying for 3 days now to rid my friends computer of this beast and I left their tonight and as of this writing it has not returned. Something is writing to the registry and after a short period of clean scans by Trend Micro, Command On Demand, CW Shredder, No Adware 6, and avast 4 it seems to keep coming back. I have disabled system restore and on and on and on ....... please help!! I am at my wits end. >:(
Please someone please help me!!

boot into safe mode, or better yet off a system CDROM or floppy.
delete all the temp folders files.
If XP disable the JVM.

Use the tools, there is a wealth of information available to all on the forums.

The forum Search tool returns 50 posts (including these) for 'Startpage' without the quotes.

This is often quicker than waiting for a reply.
