Avast Blocked a Trojan.
« on: July 04, 2010, 01:58:28 AM »
Hey,

We have a member that is using the Avast Home Edition, and for the last two days is getting a warning that Avast has blocked a trojan from something that she downloaded. She said she has not downloaded anything, but got Gmail is all. She ran the Avast scan and it found nothing.

Has anyone else complained about getting warnings of this nature, and yet Avast scan shows nothing. Thank you very much for a reply.

Which avast scan..??
She should run a boot time scan, if she is on a 32bit system.

Well if it is shown that the attack was blocked then..nothing really needs to be done..

It depends...
Did avast block it before it could download.
Or did avast block the execution of an already downloaded file.
That wasn't quite clear in the OP's statement...

Hi...

It's possible that a web site she is visiting is infected. Does avast always seem to warn her when she visits a certain site? If not, what file name(s) are associated with the warning? I would download and run the free version of MalwareBytes in case the her system is actually infected. Have her be sure to update the program before running a scan. :)

Regards...

Home Edition ? You use 4.8 or the 5.0 ?
