Avast 5 Pro browsing & downloading issue..
« on: July 18, 2010, 08:43:09 AM »
Hi,  ;D
I've been having a serious problem for a while now. Very often when I'm downloading a file using Firefox it will come up with an error message "connection to the server has been interrupted" stop the download and Avast will stop all it's services also. This will generally happen after I've noticed all the websites I'm trying to browse will sit on loading indefinitely for a few minutes. When Avast stops all internet activity resumes well and performs much faster. I also have noticed when I open a website containing a flash animation or just a picture like imgr Firefox will freeze for a few seconds. I think Avast is having trouble scanning my internet traffic. I've used the removal tool and reinstalled Avast, but this didn't solve the problem. Does anyone have an idea of what my problem is? Cheers!

Which firewall do you use?
Any other security program that could interfere?
Does it occur with other browser (for instance, Internet Explorer)?

I use Windows' firewall. I have added Avast to the firewall and it still stops. There are no other security programs installed. I couldn't bare to put up with IE long enough to test if it affects Avast. :P
