Avast 5, Windows 7 64-bit, Boot-time scan with no log.

I started the scan and walked away so i never saw a save location. But the old location in Avasts Program Files /reports/ location is empty.

Are they saved anywhere else? When i walked past my machine it from some stuff within Java's temp files, trojans/malware, and i'd like to find out what they were exactly.

Hi iarp, welcome to the forum :)

The report file for the boot time scan is found in the windows 7 ProgramData folder

This folder is hidden, so you will have to "show hidden files..."
(an easier way to locate the ProgramData folder is to open explorer and type in the address bar "C:\ProgramData". This will open the folder)

C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\report\aswBoot.txt

Sometimes it is the obvious that is overlooked ;D

The next thing is you can look for it until you are blue in the face, but if you haven't checked the generate report file in the scan that you elected to do (Quick, Full, etc.) then it won't be generated and consequently won't be found.

My version of AIS 5.1.889 does not have a that settings screen for Boot Time Scans like the one you showed.

The only options available in a Boot Time Scan in my version are

1. Schedule
2. Heuristics Sensitivity
3. Scan for potentially unwanted PUPS
4. Unpack Archive Files

I have done one Boot Time Scan and the log automatically showed up in Scan Logs

Because the screen has nothing to do with the boot-time scan as I wasn't aware it was about the boot-time scan as my post above yours says, I overlooked the obvious, boot-time scan in the topic.

I will remove it to avoid confusion.

Ah ha! Thank-you, found it right away. I figured that windows search would look in all folders, hidden or not, but apparently not.

Now, just to find out what the hell managed to get past me.
