What does the Avast Sandbox do and how do I use it?

I have it run as "run always in sandbox" feature on Google Chrome. But what does it excatly do? I dont feel much difference (though I`ve not come into any trouble yet). Does it warn you about infected files? Does it prevent them from entering your PC? Can your those files in the Sandbox and see if its malicious or not?
 
So was just curious on what it does and how I use it.
