system32/drivers/cdrom.sys rootkit
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:06:31 PM »

Hello,

I have never had any problems until now with my computer, but since a few days every time I start my pc I get a notification from avast about a rootkit detection:

system32/drivers/cdrom.sys

with the recommendation to delete it. I have already clicked 'ignore' and also 'delete (recommended)' but it keep coming back and I'm getting a bit worried. I didn't have any other virus alerts or anything like that. The only thing I did recently were some updates by vista itself....

Can someone help me with this please?

Thank you

can you upload the file to www.virustotal.com and test it with 43 malware scanners (max 20mb)
when you have the result, copy the url in the address bar and post it here

check your computer for malware with this

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always update the program so you have lates database before you scan
click the remove selected button to quarantine any infections found
you may post the scan log here
