Webb browsing blocked
« on: February 09, 2011, 07:43:40 PM »
Hey, I'm trying to use IE, Firefox while my Avast is running and it seems to be blocking both when its active. If i deactivate it i can surf the web freely. Is there a way for me
to have it running and still be able to use firefox and IE ?

I think this started when i updated Avast.

Thx in advanc Jan :)

Updated what Program or Virus Definitions ?
What avast version and build are you using, e.g. avast free 5.1.889 ?

What is your OS and Firewall ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD - 27" external monitor 1440p 2560x1440 resolution - avast! free  24.9.6130 (build 24.9.9452.762) UI 1.0.818/ Firefox, uBlock Origin Lite, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Avast! Pro Antivirus 5.1.889
Virusdefinition 110210-0
Windows 7 64-bit firewall.
And no it's not the free version. And i think its blocking my wow downloader also.
What i really need is just away to grant my Firefox browser access to the net, and my
wow launcher access as well. So i can continue being happy :p

Thx in advans.

Most commonly it is the firewall blocking avast, but the win7 firewall has outbound protection disabled by default. So unless you enabled it, that shouldn't be the issue.

I don't know if the wow launcher/downloader is getting caught in the same issue, but we will try with the browser/web shield issue.
Do you use any proxy to connect to the internet ?

-  also see Cause for apparent Web Shield blocking internet connection, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=57443.0. Confirm if your environment variables are correct and that the folders actually exist.

- check the BehaviorShield.txt file using notepad and see if there are any entries associated with the wow downloader/launcher and report your findings. c:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\Report\BehaviorShield.txt
