Avast Firewall
« on: March 23, 2005, 03:22:51 PM »
Hello,
I hope that in the not too distant future that the great folks @ avast might consider offering a personal firewall, to give the likes of sygate, zone alarm, etc., a run for their money.  ;D

Sure would be cool... But remember making a firewall is a different dicipline then making a AV!!  :P

I say nay, cause I don't like suites. Like to choose my antivirus and firewall and security progs how I please.
Not saying that an integrated security suite does not have its advantages for a normal type ignorant users.

We're not talking about suites (all-in-one-systemwork-like-bloatware-applications)  ;D
Another, standalone application... Well, life will say  ;D

I don't believe we are talking suites but a stand alone product.

I too am none to keen on security suites, we see lots of pitfalls when you want to uninstall an element of the integrated security suites (many threads on that very problem in these forums). That is not to say if avast did an integrated suite they would make a better job of the integration or for that matter the dis-integration ;D of elements of it.

My major concern is the Jack of all Trades, Master of None - These are specialist areas and I'm not convinced they should be brought together.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.5.6116 (build 24.5.9153.762) UI 1.0.808/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Then by all means Technical. More firewalls the merrier.
