A strange attachment name.....
« on: June 28, 2011, 08:37:17 AM »
Hello to you all :D
This morning, I opened up to see my emails and the following message has been send to me (from a very close friend):

<<JA1CAIWO2JKCA25EH0JCAZ8GKBSCARF9U5KCAT4FS0SCA83PZZ1CA1QHVKFCAN4SV8GCALEER92CABW2QJ0CAY4Z0DICAD6C2NVCA7VHFXPCAFSVXUFCASPPK2JCA59KGXOCA100UUKCAS2F11Q.jpg>>
The message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments:

JA1CAIWO2JKCA25EH0JCAZ8GKBSCARF9U5KCAT4FS0SCA83PZZ1CA1QHVKFCAN4SV8GCALEER92CABW2QJ0CAY4Z0DICAD6C2NVCA7VHFXPCAFSVXUFCASPPK2JCA59KGXOCA100UUKCAS2F11Q

Note: To protect against computer viruses, e-mail programs may prevent sending or receiving certain types of file attachments.  Check your e-mail security settings to determine how attachments are handled.

I smell something fishy going on  :-\
Hmmm....
The file is png, and my friend is a computer artist, so there shouldn't be any problems....right? Especially that worms and viruses are usually .exe or any other executable file, and this is PNG....I'm still worried though (well, you see - even my already weird friend WOULDN'T send this sort of thing....)
PLEASE HELP! Should I trust my friend or not?

upload suspicious file(s) to www.virustotal.com and test with 43 malware scanners
when you have the result, copy the url in the address bar and post it here for us to see

alternative
Jotti    http://virusscan.jotti.org/en
VirSCAN  http://virscan.org/

I'm sorry if I sound stupid....but, if I save the attachment, will it do anything to my computer? I don't really want to open it...
