Java installation

My system has Java(TM)6 update 27, Java2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition V 1.3, Java2 SDK Standard Edition V 1.3 installed. Do I need these three java installations? I don't know the difference... expecting reply.....

Well this Java2 SDK Standard Edition V 1.3 is the JAVA Developer Edition, so unless you are a JAVA developer, you don't need this.

Where do you see these reported ?
I only have the JAVA (TM)6 update 27 reported in the Add Remove Programs, etc.

I don't know if you need this Java2 SDK Standard Edition V 1.3 if it wasn't somehow related the the Java2 SDK Standard Edition V 1.3 (same V 1.3) ?

Java2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition V 1.3 & Java2 SDK Standard Edition V 1.3 were installed in my system at the time of purchase.(I asked them to install java..(bought a book to learn java programming..but failed.. ) ha..haa..).Java(TM)6 update 27 is installed by me just 1 month before.. IS Java(TM)6 update 27 is a substitute for the other two..??

It isn't a substitute for the other two, it is different, it contains only the Run-Time environment, so that you can run JAVA programs, e.g. those on the web.

If as you intended to do, learn to program and develop JAVA applications then you need the JAVA Developers Kit. So if you have no intention to learn and develope JAVA programs then it is a bit redundant.

You may as well delet all your java version and start from scratch with the latest version of JRE 7 http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/ there is links for both 32 and 64 bit on the site depending on what browser you use.

Iv put it on all the systems i look after and no problems at all, did'nt even go deep into the java removal first, just a simple uninstall then install the new

I am still on Java 6.

The reason being that one critical java-application I use
isn't prepared for Java 7 yet.

Besides, Java 7 is still not yet the default for new installs of Java.

Both of my systems run Java SE Runtime Environment 7 without problems.
