temp. minus sign on avast icon at startup
« on: November 13, 2004, 05:12:52 AM »
There is a minus sign on the avast icon in the system tray at system start up.  However, the little minus sign goes away after the vrdb, kerio and spysweeper icons appear in the system tray.  I have reviewed the settings in avast and the other programs and can not identify why avast is not starting up until after the other programs are started.

Running XP service pack 1.
Start order  :   Avast, Kerio, spysweeper
Thank you

Try doing a repair of avast by going start, control panel, addd remove programs, avast, change/remove, repair, next.. and when Avast still has the minus sign next to it, double click on it a see if it comes up with a error, if it does can you tell us what it is?
And mabey in 4.5 that error will be fixed

No need to do a repair.
This is caused by the way Windows loads applications at boot time.
There is a util whith which you can select the loading sequence of applications at boot time and is mentioned in several threads here.
Use the search option on this board if you want to give that util a try.
