application has changed...Avast.setup
« on: November 13, 2004, 04:07:09 PM »
Hi! I am new to forum and have used Avast for some time now. It has been doing a good job and I have been satisfied with it.

Some odd things started to appear. I have W2000 sp4, Sygate. My webdiving is done mostley with Opera 7.54 or Mozilla.

Sygate reports this
"Application has changed since the last time you opened it, process id: 768
Filename: C:\Program\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup
The change was denied by user

---- Modules changed: 0  ----
---- New modules: 1  ----
C:\Program\File-Ex 3\FxHook.dll"

Any tips?

Yes, allow avast.setup to access the net. It is part of the Avast application update.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Still I wonder why Fshook.dll is involved in this according to Sygate log??

I don't know what exactly Fshook.dll is - but according to the name, it's some kind of "hook", i.e. something that gets loaded into all the running processes. So, it doesn't have anything to do with avast! directly - it's something installed in your system.

Thanks for your concern Igor. I have found that out. A little googling lead to this. http://www.dynamiclink.nl/htmfiles/rframes/dll-f04.htm .
The file is described in short and it seems correct. "File Dialog Extensions Hook".
And it is a subject for Sygate Sorry for the trouble :)
