Avast without Email Scanner?
« on: November 21, 2004, 04:39:42 AM »
Hi,

I am a newbie to Avast but have been trying to help a friend with this AV installed (v4.5/Win98) and the recurring email problems discussed in several threads.  At this stage we have disabled email scanning and my question is whether the 'On Access" scanner or the resident shield would still offer protection for emails as they are opened?

Since my friend is very new to computers and has a handicap I would also like to find out if there is any manual I could download to help her with understanding how Avast works and which she could refer to.   I have been through the FAQ's but could not find any other material.

and there is this board :D

For the mail:
setup the mail as the provider instructs, than run the mail protection wizzard.

Thanks, Eddy.

Will use the help file information as you suggested.

We had to disable mail scanner because of  problemsin retrieving mail.  I'll check it all out again and see how we get on when next I can spend some time there.
