Avast failure
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:26:39 AM »
I have a computer with win xp. The pc was infected with "sality" or something like that. Avast was disabled in the process. I tried installing a new download but get the error "spawning". I tried uninstalling avast but when I do this the pc gives a blue screen and restarts. I managed to install a copy of Mcafee and scanned the pc and it removed the virus except for the .exe files of avast. These files cannot be deleted or cleaned by Mcafee. What do I do to get avast installed again. An online scan will not be possible since no internet service is ac\vailable where the pc is. (I update the anti virus every few months with a download from another internet pc)
