On Demand Scan
« on: December 14, 2004, 04:23:19 PM »
When doing on demand scan, Avast Home will stop scanning and ask me what to do next if it finds a virus. How can I set it to continue scanning automatically without asking anything?
In addition, in Tools > View Scan Reports, the view report option is not always available. Only when a full scan is done will the option become available. Why is that? Is this normal?
Thank you very much.

1] When a virus i found click the box saying "don't show this screen next time" > click delete and on the next screen click delete again.
OR
Do as has been explained many times already on this board. Set Avast to run in silent mode

2] If there is not report to show it is greyed out. What is logged in the report depends on the settings you as user have set.

I suggest you read the help/manual on Avast to see what is possible with the settings. Make yourself familiar with Avast !

Welcome to the forum.
In the Home version the only option you can select is silent with general answer No.
That will automatically put any viruses found into the chest.
The Pro version has many other options available.

??? I cannot find the silent mode option in on-demand scan.
Whenever the scanner scans local disks, it will stop scanning at avast virus chest folder and it says that a virus is found and asks me what to do next. I do not want to put any folders into exclusion because this creates risks.  I do not want to click the option "do not show next time" because I cannot find any buttons in setting to unclick it later. Every time when doing scan I have to have my eyes glued to the screen and cannot just let the computer idle to do the scan.
Besides, whenever I close the on-demand scan box and restart it again, the view report option is greyed out. And it does not remember the last setting.
The help function does not help me. I guess it just covers the basic things.
Thank you very much.

You won't... It's only possible in the Professional version.
Home version only allows Silent Mode of on-access (and email processing).

Besides, whenever I close the on-demand scan box and restart it again, the view report option is greyed out. And it does not remember the last setting.

Work with the results (last report scanning) is another Professional version feature.

But, if you're infected, why don't you send the files to Chest, one by one, be clean and then don't have to see that infected warning again?  ::)

Or, better, consider Pro version  8)
