Macrium reflect restore.
« on: July 08, 2012, 10:26:09 PM »
hi
Today i tried to restore a macrium full system image and when i rebooted with the rescue disc and tried to restore an image macrium would not recognise my toshiba external hard drive.
Is there any macrium users here who could advise me on how to restore an image.?
Thank you. :-[

Hi, I have no idea what your OS is but if it's win 7 you may want to build the win pe version. It's more compatible with hardware.
Macrium has this option to build this disc for you but it does require that you download the WAIK which is rather large.

If you're using windows 7 why aren't you using the Image backup that comes with your operating system ???
Does an excellent job and if the whole system crashes, all you need is the emergency DVD or the Installation DVD. :)

This is directed for those of us using Windows 8 but it will also help you if you decide to use it.

I'm sure it's just a storage drive. RAID is something you would have to set up yourself. google it. :)

thanks bob,
Ive done an image using the windows built in back up service.

Be sure and build the recovery disk, and be sure to try it to make sure it "sees" your external disk.hope that helps

A regular Image backup makes recovery from an infection or a hardware failure a breeze.  :)

Hi, you're welcome.I've done lots of restores with various imaging programs. It's better to know now if everything works instead of when disaster happens.Hope that helps. :)

Macrium was only suggested because we didn't know you had win7, i'd stick to using the windows one if i were you - it's all i use on my win7 systems and it works great.
