Avast Free Home addition

I have installed software ok but i don't have the spinning ball or icon in my taskbar next to clock?????is something wrong? >:(

Welcome Dazza40,

Have you restarted your PC after the installation?

Have you got any other (or recently have had any) Anti-virus on your system.

Also info like your OS, avast version could help.

Yes i did restart,WIN XP Home,2.4ghz Athlon,1 GIG ram,Security centre says its on and up to date.

Any other Anti-virus software on your system at the moment?, did you uninstall your last anti-virus software (including reg keys) properly? (if any).

No i haven't got any onther antivirus software on my PC ,will Avast still work without the icons? present,Windows shows it is also i did scan ok of my sytem.

Is the process "ashDisp.exe" running? (Use Task Manager's Processes tab to find out this) :)

Thanks vlk,i didn't have it flagged in msconfig,now i have and rebooted its there now  :)
