Does avast Mobile Security come with a QR code scanner?

Does avast Mobile Security come with a QR code scanner in the line of Google Snap? There it will check the link, then provide you with a clear safety rating. If you want to continue loading the link, you simply tap on the full link address. You can also tap on the rating box to view more details about the site....

Hello,

we don't provide a QR scanner. But you are still safe. If you open an url from a QR code, it will be opened in your browser and avast! Webshield will check the URL.

That is a reassuring thought anyway. Again thanks for the avast shields, the best innovative protection layer of the avast solution.
What a user can do however is use this online scanner: http://blog.qr4.nl/Online-QR-Code_Decoder.aspx (link maintainer = Jeroen Steenman)
What the advantage of the webshield check is that it will check and work on/function with all varieties of 2D codes (EZcode, Beetagg, Shotcode, SimpleAct and NeoMedia etc.). Users with a smartphone should be aware not to scan suspicious QR codes that were applied (sticked) over existing QR codes, so watch out on the bus, on the airfield, in the school lobby and check first...well the avast webshield again will protect...

Hi,

such QR codes contain only valid links to Google Play, it's the app the user installs from there that is malicious and it should be detected by AMS the same way other apps being installed are.
