how to remove avast header?
« on: February 16, 2005, 08:38:19 PM »
Version: 4.5 English on Win XP English

In certain processes, e.g. to register a new domain in a certain country, you are required to reply to an original message sent by the server. This original message includes a validation key related to the message header, subject and body.

The problem is that the server bounces the replied message stating that the original message has been modified. The reason? the header lines added by Avast.

I tried to remove them by setting the properties not to scan smtp activity:
1. internet mail, customize, smtp: unchecked all boxes
2. outlook/exchange, customize, scanner, unchecked "scan outbound messages" and also in the "outbound mail" tab I unchecked all boxes.

Rebooted. No luck.

Avast continues to mess with the header lines such as:

X-Priority: 1 (Highest)
X-MSMail-Priority: High
X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook, Build 11.0.6353
X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180

X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at nic.ar

I also tried to pause the outlook/exchange and mail provider (right click on the icon): didn't work either, all outgoing messages get the annoying header.

Is there any way to prevent the program (other than disinstalling it) from adding the header lines to outgoing messages for a while?

For instance there is no exit option on the icon (though not a good option, I would deactivate the antivirus just to send those emails and the relaunch it).

How do I restore the original settings after sending the emails which requiere no header?

thanks a lot!

Fred

Have you tried Stopping the Provider from the avast icon right click menu (send email and Start again), see if that works as a temporary measure, see image.

If that doesn't work, are you able to Terminate the Outlook/Exchange provider, send your email and Start Outlook/Exchange provider.

Stopping both mail providers should be enough.

I don't see any avast headers in this list, which do you mean ?
