HElp Win32.downloader.gen (OTL logs)
« on: April 09, 2013, 04:14:42 PM »
Hello I had Spybot S and S but I have since removed it and am now just running Microsoft security essentials and Mbam. I've put my computer into safe mode and scanned with these but no detection of malware was found. However when i scanned first with spybot it said i had the Win32.downloader.gen. I have the Extras.txt and OTL.txt attached if someone could assist on my next step it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Evan.

Just ran ADWcleaner and have the log for that.
Also here's the log for ASW.

I tried to locate the file and location but Spybot couldn't or wouldn't let me. I'm not sure if this is relevant but i set my home page on Chrome to google.ca and for some reason Conduit was still my home page even though I've never set it as. I also seen in another post you replied to that you were looking at Conduit as well could this have anything to do with it? Since running ADW Conduit is no longer my homepage now and the file has been deleted.

And when I tried to remove it using Spybot it said unable to remove and that it might be in use. So i restarted and scanned again but it didn't work. That's when I started researching and following what advice you've been giving.

It's behaving fine really. The only reason I found the virus or so call Spybot found virus is because i received an email from Gmail saying someone from a China IP had tried to access my email account but i have a security on my account and they couldn't get in. Other than that it is acting fine. So I ran scans and found the Win32.downloader.gen. But i find it weird only spybot can detect it LOL. I use Microsoft security essentials and Mbam. The programs you suggested Adw cleaner did remove some things that the others couldn't detect. Any thing else I can do?
