RE: Threat: Rootkit hidden file (in itunes?)
« on: July 22, 2013, 06:40:59 PM »
Hi, It's my first post and first problem. -_-

Full Scan detected a Rootkit located at C:\\Windows\Temp\avast_ash\iTunes(64 bit)\iTunes64Setup.exe.

When I try to delete it, it says Error: The system cannot find the file specified (2)

When I try to move to chest, it says Error: The request is not supported (50)

Can someone identify the rootkit as well as how to remove it?

Hello,

this is the Temp folder of Windows.
Maybe it is enough to empty out the folder. Go on C:/Windows/Temp and delete everything in the folder, NOT THE FOLDER ITSELF.

When the Problem is still there after that do what is shown in this Topic: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Please ATTACH your Logs, DONT COPY AND PASTE THEM.

After that Malware removers will be notified.

avast_ash indicates it was the Avast folder where it was unpacked and scanned
This folder is deleted by Avast hence it can no longer find it

Were you updating/installing iTunes at the time ?
