Ashserv.exe running at 99% cpu
« on: June 01, 2005, 10:43:56 AM »
Help.

I have Avast home 4.6

This morning my pc ground to a halt while Ashserv.exe was using 99% cpu time.
Even after a reboot, the same situation occurs.

Any idea's anyone ???

Is the avast blue ball tray icon spinning?

Vik,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

The problem seems to have stopped as mysteriously as it had started. It lasted about 40 minutes in all and during that time, I didn't see the blue ball spinning, but to be honest I wasn't watching for that all the time.

Any ideas what happened?

This could've been caused by a number of reasons. E.g.

- a background scan (maybe you have scheduled one?)
- VRDB generator (although this should only be activated when the computer is "idle" by default)
- on-access scanner scanning some files (e.g. the P2P shield scanning a large download?)

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.
