Removing the Avast plug-in from Outlook 2010
« on: October 28, 2013, 02:29:21 PM »
I am desperately trying to remove the Avast plug-in which adds a message to end of my emails advertising Avast. I have tried to remove the plug in via tools, but it won't remove it stating that I am not a system administrator even if I am. Has anyone had this same problem and solved it?

from regedit navigate to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins]
and delete avastaddin

and if you are using Windows7 64 bit

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office]
and delete avastaddin

Thanks. After removing it from the registry I was able to remove it from the plug-in list in Outlook. I then rebooted the machine, started Outlook and send a test message and the same Avast advert comes up at the bottom of the message when I open it! Any other suggestions?

I don't get the message you are seeing, but in another thread someone mentioned there was a setting to not include the message.

You mean that message Avast insert into outgoing mail to say the message is clean?  If so, you'll have to go into settings->active protection->mailshield (click cogwheel), then go to behavior.  Uncheck the box under general that says 'insert note into clean message(outgoing)'.   That did the trick for me.
