anyone else miss the files scaned counter?
« on: November 02, 2013, 10:19:21 AM »
for some reason, it feels like a huge part is missing when i run a scan and there is no scanned files counter.

now all there is is a pulsating circle and a %. which is frankly boring. used to like watching the file scan count get to 6 million. lol

Well mine does progress from 0% after a short time of initialising, working out how much data is to be scanned so the % can be compiled.

That said, who kicks of a scan and sits watching it. I schedule mine for when the computer is on but likely to be inactive and I'm usually not there.

Since I don't have a clue as to how many files compromise a full scan,
The file count never really helped to give me any indication as to how much more
scanning remained to complete the scan.
Now at least I seen how much of the total scan still remains at any time.
I personally think this is an excellent and helpful change. :)

This was discussed during the beta tests. After thinking about it, it doesn't make any sense to sit and watch
the scan. So I scan then I can access the scan logs to find the end results. I would rather do other things than
watch a scan run.  :)

Actually, ver. 8 (and earlier) did show both the files/folders count and the percentage completed, all in plain text, while the scan was running.

On my system, a full system scan is around 50-55 GB and takes around 25 minutes with both caches active.  While I do stay at the computer in case something unexpected needs attention, most often I take the opportunity to read another few chapters of whatever book I'm in the middle of.
