SD Card protection issue
« on: July 25, 2014, 09:53:37 PM »
Hi everybody,

Got a new phone (Oppo Find 7 8)) installed my apps, contacts, etc.
Than I started rooting installed my root apps including avast + avast anti theft.
Now I need to give my phone to somebody else because he is going to get some accessoires for my phone.
No problem at all because I trust the person and he did it before. Than I thought what if my phone gets stolen.
I have avast anti-theft, but when thinking about ways to access my phone, I thought about adb, I turned usb debugging off.
Last problem closed nobody is able to do/acces anything with my phone. WRONG!
There is a big security issue, it is about the sd-card. People can pull it out and put a patch on it (most of the time called UPDATE.zip).
Open the fastboot/recovery, apply update on sd-card, patch kernel and change rom, no anti-theft left.
I thought of some possible ways to let the phone deny the sd-card but I can't think of any possibility how the fastboot could check for that kind of stuff.

Kind regards,
Joris Coenen

P.s. Sorry for my bad english, speaking other languages has never been that easy for me.

Looking at your name, you are Dutch or Flamish...
There is a Dutch section where you can ask if that is easier for you.
