Server OS is not supported
« on: August 26, 2014, 01:54:40 PM »
Hi,
I am trying to install my avast pro on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine.

I see a popup: "The installation cannot continue" -> Server OS is not supported.

Why is that ?

Because avast pro is not for a server OS.

For a server OS you will need avast endpoint protection or one of the specific server products.

I think its very rude. I dont want no server end point protection.

I am software engineer and i have Windows 7 development computer and Windows server development computer.

I am not running "servers" from my office, i just use the server operation system because i must make sure that the software i develop is compatible with Server OS .

What can i do ? I will not renew my licenses if this continue.

Rude?
There is nothing rude about it.
If you are a software engineer, you should know that there is a difference between a server os and client os.
That means both will need their own kind of protection software.

If you don't want the SEP, you don't have to use/buy it, no-one is forcing you to do so.
