Using Antispyware alongwith Avast
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:00:54 PM »
Since, Avast is primarily an Antivirus Program, is it necessary to use a real-time Antispyware also alongwith Avast for complete protection ? My friends suggested Spyware-Terminator with Clamwin AV integration or Windows Defender, as they are using them with AVGAntivirus. Spyware Terminator seemed a good choice as it has lesser memory usage for realtime. Whether it will clash with Avast?
Avast has lesser memory usage(around 18200K-total for AshDisp.exe,Serv.exe,MaiSv.exe,WebSv.exe and UpdSV.exe) compared to other Antivirus programs and gives lot of good features, too.
Using additional Antispyware means added memory usage;that may slowdown the pc?
Please suggest good  realtime Antispyware programs having lesser memory usage and which do not clash with Avast.
Thanks.

avast has a good spyware detection rate.
But not a software is perfect, something could be missed, for some hours...
So, if you have a computer with good performance, SpywareTerminator is a good alternative.
Windows Defender has a poor detection rate.
Other possibility is SpywareDoctor Starter Edition (free with Google Pack).
