Hi to all
I have been using Avast Free on an XP3 desktop and an XP3 laptop[ACER] for a number of years and have had no problems.
I use Thunderbird as my email client and my ISP is Virgin Media.
For a couple of weeks there have been a few problems with sending and receiving in Thunderbird, but four days ago the problem was resolved by VM.
Since Sunday 3 April I have been unable to send and 'Get messages' on the laptop where I have 3 email addresses.
I also have 3 email addresses on the desktop, which are working OK.
On the laptop on which I cannot send or receive, I keep getting the Add Security Exception window pop-up which indicates it is generated by Avast, with regard to 'this site attempts to identify itself with invalid information' - 'unknown identity' - the certificate is not trusted..........' I would attach, if allowed, a screenshot but I cannot do this because I cannot send it from the laptop.
Both computers are running the same version of Avast 11.1.2253.
On another forum it was suggested that I disable Avast and try that. I did this, very quickly for one email address and a dozen or more messages were downloaded to that email Inbox.
VM are adamant that this is not their problem.
I have checked through and compared all settings etc in the Avast programme on the desktop and laptop and can find nothing differing.
I have also searched within this forum but could not find any current issue - a couple a few years ago - regarding this subject.
I have tried no troubleshooting or suggestions - not many - via a general web search on Google.
I look forward to getting some help with this.
Rgds
