With Avast's HTTPS scanning, how do I see site's cert info?
« on: September 23, 2015, 12:42:08 AM »
With Avast's HTTPS scanning enabled, clicking on the address bar icon to see the site's certificate details instead shows the details of Avast's certificate (they one they install in the local cert store to perform their MITM attack to interrogate encrypted web traffic).  I want to see the site's cert, not Avast's.

Do I have to forego Avast's HTTPS scanning feature so I can verify a site's cert, especially if there is a problem (e.g., the site is trying to use one cert at many of their hosts and either the cert was not issued for a host where they want to reuse their cert or they may even try using their one cert at a different domain of theirs)?

Avast's MITM scheme to intercept HTTPS traffic means I see Avast's cert when looking in a web browser at the cert details.  That's useless in resolving cert problems at the site.
