Have Office 2010, get messy 2007 updates
« on: December 10, 2015, 12:17:41 AM »
I have Office 2010 (Click-to-Run) and every month I get Office 2007 updates that often mess up the program, such as Office files not being able to open, the file extension getting messed up, etc.
Putting aside the messes these updates cause, do they accomplish anything good in light of the fact that they're addressed to a different version of Office than what I have?

I think you'd probably be better served, asking this question on the MS support forum.

I used to have a similar problem like yours. At one point and somehow my Office 2010 Click to Run won't even up up Word program and only opens up Excel. So I got rid of Office 2010 click to run and installed this http://www.kingsoftstore.com/software/kingsoft-office-freeware
DELL Inspiron 15" 7000 Gaming, Windows 10 Home Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1237), Trend Micro Maximum Security 2021 (17.0.1333), Avast SecureLine VPN (5.12.5655), Windows Firewall, Unchecky 1.2

Isn't there a repair function when you select Office in the Programs and Features section???
I'd give that a try first. :)

Not only have I, but I've had to do it too many times for one product. And it doesn't always solve the problem.

Then you'll need to take this up with Microsoft as has already been suggested. :)

I'm not posting to complain about the updates. Here's my question again:
Putting aside the messes these updates cause, do they accomplish anything good in light of the fact that they're addressed to a different version of Office than what I have?
