Error 42111 after running avast anti virus on my external HD, Can't delete files

Hi there,
Looking for some help please :). I've just completed a virus scan on my external hd and it came up with some malware and threats that it moved to chest. But when it couldn't fix the problems on 8 of the files it came up with Error 42111. How bad is this?? Its says that they're are a serious threat which obviously worry's me. I will be forever gratefull for help as this is were i keep my pictures safe....or so i thought. :o

They are temp internet files so they may already be gone..  Do they show on a rescan
