hello,i have a problem with not being able to run a virus scan. when i click "start virus scan",an error message appears "error 42000". what could be the solution to this? thank you. kelvin

Welcome to the forum kelvin,http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=5719.0 here is a list of error codes.You could try a repair,add/remove programs>avast>change/remove>scroll to repair>next and follow directions (you need to be online for this)
