What Does This Mean?

If I have overlooked the answer to my question - please forgive, I am a bit un-hinged at the moment!

I found the following in my error log today, and I do not know what it means?  ???

I could not find a place to look up 'error message codes' so, I am not sure if I have some bad stuff in the 'virus chest' -- or what is going on?

Would someone please enlighten me?

:)
Thanks to you Delta for your reply.
The link you supplied does not relate to my problem though.

The erro log I pasted in my post -- was in my "logs" file after an 'update' attempt.

Since I am new to the Avast program, I just don't know what to make of it all?
 ???
I am afraid that I might have some sort of problem and not know it -- I am just not that much of a computer whiz either -- so, I was hoping that someone here would know what it all meant?
 :-[

I don't want to delete anything or take any other action until I know just what it all means.
Perhaps someone will happen alone soon to help me out.

Thanks for your help anyway.
 :)

The error logs are verbose to help Alwil, they aren't particularly user friendly to a user, more for technical support. I don't look in my error logs unless I'm experiencing a problem and generally that isn't an issue. This has just prompted me to look, I only have 1 entry in my error log and that is from 29/12/2005 and I can't remember that presenting any problem.

Other than the error log info are you experiencing any problems ?
If not I wouldn't scare myself by looking at the error logs. There can be occasional glitches with an update that throw up these verbose logs that aren't a permanent problem. Are you able to update now, is you VPS the latest 0607-1 ?

You could try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Yes, I am having another problem-- everyday all of the 'settings' choices I have clicked and thought to have "saved" must be reset again -- I see that I am not alone in this problem -- and there does not seem to be a way to resolve it?  Even after several "clean" uninstalls and re-installs - I am out of ideas ???

This back to default problem and the fact that I am not allowed a bootscan with my particular system -- made me uninstall Avast before -- and I may have to abandon using it again -- because I am not able to upgrade from my Win98se -- but, I have been trying to be as 'fair about' giving it another go as I could be!
:)

Thanks very much for your reply, time and knowledge!

Is this related to your other post, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=19236.msg162306#msg162306 ?

If so I suggest you continue on that thread and answer the questions I asked when I replied on the 8th of February.

If there is an external issue then no amount of reinstalls will resolve it unless that issue is resolved.

There have been occasions were win98 and avast on windows shutdown don't save the settings. So I suggest you change some settings and before you shutdown your computer right click the avast icon and select Stop On-Access protection and then shutdown win98.
