Avast Password Browser Extension Problem
« on: April 23, 2016, 03:17:47 AM »
Hi guys,

I dont know if this is the correct method of creating this thread, if it isnt please forgive me. Anyways here goes:

As the title says, I have a issue withe the avast password browser extension. When i have the browser extension enabled on my firefox browser i go to facebook and use my browser as normal. I come to find after a few seconds of browsing my facebook news feed on my browser becomes very very slow and slugglish and scrolling becomes very hard as the page struggles to move down and when i scroll down using my mouse it takes the facebook page quite a while for the informationon the page to scroll down and eventually the newsfeed becomes very very slow.

At first I was like hmmm why is this happening? I then remembered I installed Avast password browser extension, I disabled the extension and the problem went away. my browering returned to normal, my scrolling on the facebook news feed went back to normal everything was fine. So i then decided to re-enable the avast password browser extension only to find my problems to return.

So I unistalled firefox and its settings so no other extensions were enabled, just a clean copy of firefox running stock without anything installed. I then re installed avast password browser extension only to find once again my scrolling to eventually become very very slow after a few seconds of browersing my news feed on facebook and the page becoming very very slow to respond to my mouse when scrolling down. Soon as i disabled the avast password browser extension my problems went away. I just wanted some help, has anyone else who is using this feature get the same issues and if so did they fix it and how? Or have i just found a new bug?

My pc specs:
i5 4690k @4.1ghzt
16gb hyper x ram
GTX 980

Thank you guys

Been with avast antivirus for over 4 years and this is my first ever problem. Feel free to ask me any questions

Hello AliA, welcome to the forums.

Please post your Avast edition and version (Free/Pro/IS/Premier, latest version is 2016.11.2.2261), your OS, which version of Firefox etc.

As for the issue, another user in the Japanese forum has the exactly same issue with Avast Password and Facebook.
For now I can't find any information or fix of the issue, hope avast devs will look into it.

Hi AliA,
thanks for sharing this! There is a performance problem on some pages, although it normally doesn't happen on Facebook. It will be fixed in the next release. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

I also have this problem since using Avast Passsword on Firefox when scrolling down on Facebook.
But not only.
I also noticed that on Wordpress admin interface I have the same problem, any action takes much more time.
Any tip to fix it ?

I have problems with the Avast Passwords browser extension in Comodo Dragon browser. When I enable it in my browser, all the elements on Youtube load very slow and buggy. For example when I click on the + symbol under a video to add the video to a playlist, it takes like 20 seconds to open the menu. Or when I hover the cursor over a playing video, the cursor disappears and it takes very long to reappear after hovering out.

My Avast edition: Premier 12.3.2280 (build 12.3.3143.23)
OS: Windows 10
Browser: Comodo Dragon, Version 52.15.25.664

Okay thanks, well, Comodo Dragon is based on Chromium and I never had any problems with other Chrome addons. The installation went flawlessly and it apparently works as it should, with the side effect of slowing down some elements in websites, which causes me to keep it disabled. I assume it will not be fixed because the browser is not very common, but maybe someone knows a workaround, because I don't really want to change to a more unsafe browser only for this addon.

Why not use the Avast SafeZone Browser ???
