Thanks for the link. That helps, somewhat, but the message refers to Windows 10. We are running Win 7 here so if the answer would be different for that OS, please let me know.
However:
When I view the first page of messages in this forum, (Avast WEBforum>Avast Products>Avast For Business>Avast Endpoint Protection) the message subject "Intel Bug Meltdown/Spectre Win 10 Update - Contact your Anti-Virus AV to confirm" does not appear. The list is sorted with the most recent message at the top. The top five messages in that list are:
Anti-Malware program updates and "Meltdown" fixes last post "Today"
Is avast endpoint client compatible with Windows Server 2016? last post December 29, 2017
AVAST 8 OUTLOOK PLUG-IN CRASHING ALL MY OUTLOOK CLIENTS COMPUTERS !!!!!!!!! last post December 28, 2017
Computer won't boot after Avast scan last post December 6, 2017

If I do CTRL+[refresh button] in Firefox version 52.1.1 ESR (which should wipe out the cache for the page and give me the most recent version) I get the same results. By comparison, CTRL+[refresh button] does change what's displayed in another website (AskWoody.com) that commonly requires a manual refresh.
So what's going on here then?
