Virus Chest

guys i seem not to understand the purpose of the virus chest so can you please explain to me its purpose...

because i honestly thought when i virus is caught over there (lets say a file i value is infected)i thought it could be fix ...i thought i virus could be removed from that file so could you kindly help me on that ,i seem to always delete some of the important files because avast states that they are infected
