AutoHotkey Creates False Positive
« on: March 07, 2018, 09:26:15 AM »
I created a 'macro' in AutoHotkey, compiled it and named it "j.exe". Avast keeps thinking it's a virus and deleted.

Is AutoHotkey itself a bad thing?

Assuming it's not, how do I whitelist?

TIA for any help or guidance.

Thank you Asyn. I did report. Does Avast typically respond or give info about their test results?

Are you aware of how to 'white list' the app? I tried, but Avast came back and deleted again.

I probably used the wrong terminology...

How do I prevent Avast from deleting my AutoHotkey macro called "j.exe"? Avast seems to think it's something else based on it's name, it seems, and keeps removing it from my system.

Thank you.

I can't upload the file to report it because I can't find it anymore.

I go into the Virus Chest, I see the file, I check the box, click the down-arrow and nothing happens. I thought there was a Restore function there.

Any ideas where my file went? Is there an actual directory that Avast moved my file to?

I would really like to get my file back as I use it heavily. I wrote it, it is not a virus.

Exclusions allows me to navigate to, and select, a directory. If I understand the instructions, I then manually type in the name of the file.

I just want to be sure that only the file, and not the entire directory, is not being excluded from scans.
