Avast color ball not right-is this a problem
« on: July 22, 2006, 06:14:02 AM »
I have (I think) downloaded and installed avast v4.7  on windows XP, but the avast ball is supposed to be blue, not steel grey as mine seems to be. Have I done something wrong?? Is it working or have I missed something in the set up or installation process

Maybe just a video driver issue...
If you put the mouse pointer over the 'a' icon, how many providers are running?
Left clicking the icon, click the buttom Details (if you did not do it already), which provider is disabled (if any)?

The icon isn't a vivid blue and for me blue grey the background can also have an effect in the perceived colour. This has also been discussed many times in the forums so obviously people think it is meant to be a solid bright blue, however, the shading to try to give it a 3d effect makes it look more like a washed out blue.

David, sorry the off-topic, but besides avast, Outpost and the nework icon, which does the other one belong?

The other one is PC Wizard 2006 the icon is a very smal Wizard, it is a little like Everest.

Oh, I see... Thanks for the info.
I suppose you're running it at that time and it is not a 'resident' program... am I right?

Yes I run it on-demand, it has been very hot here and I have been using it to monitor temperatures of my nvidia 6600GT which runs hot 50c, hotter than my CPU. So I have tried a few things to get to run cooler. The PC Wizard is one of the few tools that will show graphics temps.
