Context menu results window
« on: October 18, 2006, 07:17:09 AM »
I can't understand why, but whenever I right-click on a file to access the scanning feature in the context menu, avast! does scan the file, but once it's done, the results window immediately disappears. Any thoughts?

(Windows XP, avast! Home Edition v4.7)

That is the reason it is called a quick scan, so you can continue what you were doing without further interruption. The results just show the file/s that have been scanned and the fact that they are clean.

If they weren't clean all hell would break loose and you would know one was infected, at that point you wouldn't be interested in the results list ;D

But, you can change the setting as in the link provided by roro. I'm nosey too and want to know what is going on on my system so I have it enabled to show the results. However, you might get results that you might not be expecting (it scans deep), some files that you think only consist of a single file may report 5 or more files scanned when you think it should only be one. Word docs are just one because they have lots of stuff embedded.
