Checking your Trusted Sites zone
« on: November 13, 2006, 10:36:02 PM »
Hi malware fighters,

Some spyware and adware will add miscreant links to your IE Trusted Sites Zone, This may allow sites to run with fewer security restrictions. Make sure you regularly check your Tusted Sites Zone list to ensure only sites that you have specifically listed are included there.

How, it is easy and only will cost you a minute of your time.

1. Do not open Internet Explorer. Make sure all browser applications and windows are closed.
2. Right click the IE icon on your desktop.
3. Choose 'Properties'.
4. Click on the 'Security' tab.
5. Click the "Trusted Sites' con to highlight.
6. Click the 'Sites' button to review the list of sites included.
7. If you see any unwanted site on the list, click on the site link displayed to highlight it, then click the 'Remove'button,
8. When finished viewing or modifying the 'Trusted Sites'list. click OK and then click Apply (if any changes were made).
9. Click OK to exit the Properties menu.

Thank you very much,

polonus

Some of us need all the help we can get.   (I am really speaking for myself.)  Were it not for people like you, Polonus, I could not even guess where to start.  Thank you for (again) giving good advice.

Terry

polonus,

Thank you so much!  This is somewhat like being back in school again, but I was a pre-computer era geek (and I still have my slide rule), so I am enthusiastic.  :D

Thanks again,

Terry

Polonus,
If I followed his advise for setting up IE, I'd never get to a website. The main onus for safe browsing
still rests with the user.
If you frequent safe sites, you'll stay safe with a reasonable amount of precautions.
If you frequent unsafe sites, all the restrictions in the world will still sooner or later get your system compromised.
