MacAfee AV update conflicts with ZA free

ZA has a history that it sometimes conflicts with other programs, we know about Torpark for instance, now a MacAfee AV update conflicts with ZA, disabling the firewall. Read:

Switch to avast!, it's better for you and your computer....

Good point. Better still use Avast in combination with some non-resident scanning to have the whole malware theatre covered.

Good question. At home I use Avast together with non-resident ClamWin, Freefixer beta, A-squared, Ad-Aware + Spybot S&D and SpywareBlaster. At my job they have XP Professional and there they run MacAfee, Ad-Aware or as part of Hitman Pro. Is that the kind of answer you liked to hear?

yep..i aggree with u..ZA is quite buggy and slows down the pc a bit and that makes me like Comodo most..

Freefixer can be found at www.freefixer.com. What FreeFixer is?

FreeFixer is a general purpose removal tool which will help you to delete potentially unwanted software, such as adware, spyware, trojans, viruses and worms. FreeFixer works by scanning a large number of locations where unwanted software has a known record of appearing or leaving traces. The scan locations include the programs that run on your computer, the programs that starts when you reboot your computer, your browser's plug-ins, your home page setting, etc.

FreeFixer does not know what is unwanted, so it presents the scan result and it's up to you decide if some file should be removed and if some settings should restored to their default value. Please be careful! If you delete a legitimate file you may damage your computer. To assist you when determining if anything should be removed you can find more information at FreeFixer's web site for each item in the scan result. You can for example see what other users chose to do in the same situation. You can also save log file of your scan result and consult the volunteers in one of the FreeFixer helper forums.

kind of..i was asking y he posted here a mcafee and ZA confliction while here is a AVAST(opponent of mcafee) forum..i know the answer though..coz this forum can help everyone..its the most open-minded forum i know..

Seems a good tool but, for sure, not for all users... They should, at least, show some obvious conclusions about the detected items, imho.

Tools like FreeFixer, and the one that validates online like there is X-RayPC have all come along in the slipstream of HijackThis, and I consider them programs to be able to work better cleansing routines.
There are online sources to evaluate the outcome of FreeFixer or its reports rather, and they have a very interesting forum to discuss the findings of FreeFixer. You also have to note that FreeFixer is still in beta. But I have installed it, and it seems a valuable addition in finding things that should not be on a malware-free computer. It is nice that you can work the logs of X-RayPC to cleanse in a similar way as you handle the HJT-logs. These aren't programs for the meek, and certainly not to be used without help of an expert.
