i have got a virus called win32.sd bot-44(trj)
can anyone give me any pointers on how to get rid of this cos i am starting to tear my hair out with it. ???

Its not a virus,its a trojan. Just delete it. (if you don't know how,use avast! Boot-time scan).

Hi,

it has Backdoor functions..

where exactly was the trojan found (full path and filename from avast'S report/logfile

you should read here:
SDBOT-Info

on what it does, and how to remove it..

if you have sensitive/private data on your PC,  AND!! the trojan was active (depends on the path where it was found)

you should
- thoroughly scan your PC with avast and other scanners, e.g. Trendmicro, RAV and KAV
- secure your system, change passwords and think about setting up the PC completely new, cause your system might be compromised ;)
